A flexible approach built on a foundation of detailed and precise planning allowed MidAtlantic to successfully complete this carefully staged expansion and renovation of a functioning endoscopy center in Clifton, NJ. A requirement for this project was that the center remain operational during construction except for a single, two-week shutdown with closing and re-opening dates specified by center practitioners.
In order to meet these requirements, MidAtlantic phased the project to complete as much of the expansion as possible before breaking into the existing center. At the same time, MidAtlantic’s field personnel developed a close working relationship with center staff, building the trust necessary to allow off-hours work within the existing center to occur without incident before the shutdown, which was critical to maintaining the overall project schedule. Careful ICRA protocol were also followed, including the use of negative pressure and temporary partitions to avoid compromising the center’s ability to safely provide medical care during construction.
